Mauchline Ware: Collector's Guide by David Trachtenberg
Little has previously been published about this highly collectable souvenir ware which was manufactured in Scotland between 1840 and 1939. Mauchline ware is now widely collected around the world and prices are on the increase. This much needed book on the subject documents the history and manufacture of the ware and catalogues the vast array of items which were produced in various shapes, sizes and finishes. Mauchline ware appeals to a wide span of collectors as the articles are linked to activities such as sewing, smoking, reading and writing. The important connection between Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet, and the town of Mauchline is also examined. The book contains a chapter on care and maintenance, a comprehensive list of dealers and a price guide.
David Trachtenberg owns and operates an architectural consulting firm in New York, as well as an antiques business. He is a collector of Mauchline ware and a contributor to the Mauchline Ware Society's journal. Thomas Keith has been an independent Burns scholar for 11 years. An actor by profession, he has also worked as an editorial consultant on several books and is co-author of a number of plays and a volume of poetry.
