This book develops methods to simulate and analyze the time-dependent changes of stress and strain states in engineering structures up to the critical stage of creep rupture. The objective of this book is to review some of the classical and recently proposed approaches to the modeling of creep for structural analysis applications.
Holm Altenbach studierte in der Fachrichtung Dynamik und Festigkeit von Maschinen an der physikalischmechanischen Fakultü¾†”¼t des Leningrader Polytechnischen Instituts, wo er auch promoviert wurde und sich habilitierte. Sein beruflicher Weg begann an der Universitü¾†”¼t Magdeburg zunü¾†”¼chst im Motorenbau,
spü¾†”¼ter bei der Werkstoffkunde. Seit 1996 war er Professur fü¾˜¶˜¼r Technische Mechanik an der Martin‐ Luther‐Universitü¾†”¼t Halle‐Wittenberg, seit 2011 vertritt er dieses Gebiet an der Otto‐von‐Guericke‐Universitü¾†”¼t in Magdeburg. Seine Arbeitsgebiete sind unter anderem die Kontinuumsmechanik mit Schwerpunkt
zweidimensionale Kontinua sowie Werkstoffmechanik mit den Schwerpunkten
Werkstoffkriechen, verstü¾†”¼rkte Komposite und Materialien mit Mikrostruktur. Seit 2005 ist er einer der Herausgeber der Zeitschrift fü¾˜¶˜¼r angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik.
