Molecular Politics by Susan Wright
In this comparative study of the development of regulatory policy for genetic engineering in the United States and the United Kingdom, the author analyzes government responses to the struggles among corporations, scientists, universities, trade unions and public-interest groups over regulating this new field. Drawing on archival materials, government records and interviews with industry executives, politicians, scientists, trade unionists and others on both sides of the Atlantic, this book provides an account of a crucial set of policy decisions and explores their implications for the political economy of science.
Susan Wright is an activist and author. Her latest novels are New Adult Romances: Role Play and Good Girl. She's also published an urban fantasy series, Confessions of a Demon, a historical fantasy series, To Serve and Submit, and the Slave Trade science fiction trilogy. Her media tie-in books include 9 Star Trek novels and several short stories, including the bad girls of Trek in Dark Passions. Susan is the spokesperson for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, and has lectured and interviewed extensively on sexual freedom, consent and the media coverage of alternative sexuality.
