More Years for the Locust by Jim Higgins

The book tells the story of the British Trotskyists as they emerged from the Second World War, and of how the group around Tony Cliff built a distinct tendency based on the theories of State Capitalism and the Permanent Arms Economy. Higgin's describes the development of this, the IS tendency from Cliff's early years in Palestine, through the 50s and 60s, down to the expulsion of the IS Opposition in the mid-70s, shortly before the International Socialists declared themselves a fully blown revolutionary party, the SWP. The book also includes the key documents of the battle with the IS Opposition, on both sides of the debates, as well as obituaries for Jim by Roger Protz and Nigel Fountain, and a new introduction by John Game. More Years for the Locust is illustrated throughout with cartoons by Phil Evans.
