Mortality Statistics by Office For National Statistics
This is the annual review of the Registrar General on childhood, infant and perinatal deaths, in England and Wales. It contains detailed analyses of all stillbirths, infant and perinatal deaths and data on deaths of children aged under-16 by cause of death, sex and age-group. It also analyses by some of the key risk factors affecting stillbirths and infant deaths, obtained by linking the baby's death record with the corresponding birth record - father's social class, age and country of birth of mother, previous children born within the marriage, and birthweight.
The OFFICE FOR NATIONAL STATISTICS (ONS) is the government department that provides UK statistical and registration services. ONS is responsible for producing a wide range of key economic and social statistics which are used by policy makers across government to create evidence-based policies and monitor performance against them. The Office also builds and maintains data sources both for itself and for its business and research customers. It makes statistics available so that everyone can easily assess the state of the nation, the performance of government, and their own position.
