Paper Clay by Rosette Gault
Paper clay is still a relatively new material in the ceramic world. As an exciting new area, further developments are still being made. This 2nd edition replaces the old artwork with better images in colour, and the expanded text brings the reader up to date on the latest information. A new chapter explores the possibilities of large-scale work in depth. Paper clay is easy to use, as it is much stronger and will take much more abuse than normal clay. It is extremely strong in the unfired state which means changes and repairs can be made at almost every stage of the making process. The finished result is often indistinguishable from normal clay, but is much lighter, making it ideal for wall installations or complicated sculptural forms.
Rosette Gault is an American studio potter who has been a professional ceramicist and teacher for 30 years. She has written articles and lectured on the subject of paper clay at the V&A (London) and Helsinki.
