The ten pillars of Buddhism are ten ethical principles which together provide a comprehensive guide to the moral dimension of human life. This exploration aims to provide readers with a source of stimulation and insight in their quest for ethical standards by which to live their lives. The author was born in London, travelled to India as a young man and was ordained as a Buddhist monk, and has been writing about and teaching Buddhism for over 40 years. He founded the world-wide Friends of the Western Buddhist Order and is the author of more than 30 books.
A respected translator and author of over fifty books, Sangharakshita began studying BUddhism at the age of 16. After 20 years studying in India he returned to England and set up the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order which has over 65 centres worldwide, including the USA.
