Simon Caley was born in Ceylon in 1953. He went to school in the UK and qualified as a dentist at Guy's Hospital in 1977. He then worked on the Isle of Wight, where he had his own practice and was the visiting dentist for HMPs Parkhurst, Albany and Camphill.
