Elizabeth Cropper is Professor of History of Art at The Johns Hopkins University and director of the Hopkins Center for Italian Studies at the Villa Spelman in Florence. She is the author of The Ideal of Painting: Pietro Testa's D sseldorf Notebook (Princeton) and Pietro Testa 1612-1650. Charles Dempsey is Professor of History of Art at The Johns Hopkins University and author of Annibale Carracci and the Beginnings of Baroque Style and The Portrayal of Love: Botticelli's "Primavera" and Humanist Culture at the Time of Lorenzo the Magnificent (Princeton).
