Lucia deLeiris is an American painter who has exhibited her work widely throughout the US. A zoologist by training, she combines science and art in her work. The illustrator of
Natural History of the Antarctic Peninsular, her work for children includes posters for National Geographic, two Dover Colouring Books, and classroom materials for the US Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Meredith Hooper was born in Australia. An Antarctic specialist, she has made several research trips to the continent. In 2000 she was awarded the Antarctica Medal by the US Congress. Her books for Frances Lincoln include The Pebble in my Pocket, which is the only children's book ever to be shortlisted for the Dingle History of Science Book Award.
