W. Montgomery Watt is professor emeritus of arabic and islamic studies at the University of Edinburgh. He has served as the chair of this department. Pierre Cachia taught at the University of Edinburgh, and was Senior Lecturer in Arabic. He is now professor emeritus of Arabic language and literature at Columbia University.
