Her mother dead and her father missing in the Arctic tundra, an Eskimo girl is flown to a distant settlement to make a new life. Married at 13 and feeling trapped and miserable, she makes a desperate bid for freedom, and then is rescued by a pack of wolves from the never-ending Arctic landscape.
