It particularly focuses on the role of evaluation in finding sustainable solutions. Environment and development are closely interlinked, as are human health and ecosystem health. The pandemic that began in 2020 demonstrated in no uncertain terms how destruction of habitats has allowed hitherto unknown pathogens spill over to humans wreaking havoc on people’s lives and livelihoods. We are already seeing the impacts of global climate change in terms of heatwaves, forest fires and increased storms. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) explicitly recognize the equal importance of the social, economic and environmental dimensions of development. In these turbulent times, when humankind faces multiple complex challenges it is essential to know that our responses are effective and that they make a positive difference. Evaluationcan provide invaluable lessons to how we design policies, strategies and programs and how we allocate limited resources between competing priorities. This book brings together key thinkers and practitioners from the public and private sectors, from major multilateral organizations and from bilateral donor agencies, to present the latest knowledge and experience on how to evaluate interventions in the nexus of environment and development. The book does not promote any particular approach or methodology, but rather emphasizes the need for mixed methods to address the question at hand in the best and most suitable manner. It covers cases from a variety of fields, from climate change mitigation and adaptation, energy efficiency and renewable energy, natural resources management, biodiversity conservation and more. This book is not a conference proceedings although it has its roots in the Third International Conference on Evaluating Environment and Development organized by the GEF Independent Evaluation Office in October 2019. The conference brought together a larger number of established and upcoming evaluators, researchers and evaluation users from the Global North and South, representing a wide variety of organizations, to discuss the frontiers of environment and development evaluation. Following the conference, the editors identified and contacted the participants who made key contributions at the conference and asked them to develop their ideas and papers into book chapters according to a coherent plan.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":49740617580817,"sku":"NGR9783030788551","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52456026145041,"sku":"NLS9783030788551","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3030788555.jpg?v=1750837954"},{"product_id":"gender-equality-climate-action-and-technological-innovation-for-sustainable-deve-book-ogechi-adeola-9783031401268","title":"Gender Equality, Climate Action, and Technological Innovation for Sustainable Development in Africa","description":"This open access book explores the intersection of gender and climate change, suggests ways in which innovative technologies can accelerate climate relief actions, and offers strategies for integrating climate change initiatives into national policies and planning. By examining the devastating consequences of climate change on women and girls throughout the continent, the authors pose a crucial question: Does gender matter in climate change discussions in Africa?   Political and social traditions have burdened women with greater vulnerability to the impacts of climate-related natural disasters, including violence, displacement, poverty, famine and lack of access to clean water. However, women are also key to effective and inclusive climate mitigation, adaptation, and decision-making. The authors provide a compelling discourse that identifi es the social and economic benefi ts for all citizens when genderinclusive policies shape equitable and targeted action plans, from mitigationto adaptation and funding. The UN’s SDG 13 calls for urgent action and commitment to combat climate change. The world and its environments are changing rapidly, and the public may have difficulty keeping up and understanding how these changes will affect our way of life. The authors discuss various topics and case studies from an Asian perspective, but the content, messaging, and lessons learned need not be limited to Asian cultures. Each chapter provides a summary of the intensive research that has been performed on pro-environmental behaviors, the experience of people working in industry and at home, and their philosophies that guide them in their daily lives. We highlight humanity's potential to contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) by understanding better the environmental psychology, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability and stewardship protection elements that contribute to responsible environmental citizenship. The content of the chapters in this book includes a discussion of the crucial issues, plans, and evaluations for sustainability theories, practices, and actions with a proposed management structure for maximizing the cultural, social, and ecological diversity of Asian experiences compared to other theories and cultures internationally. A particular focus is placed on various stakeholders’ points of view. The book's chapters are co-developed and contributed by multidisciplinary teams including both academics and industry practitioners. The case study-oriented approach taken here helps to facilitate the reader's understanding of how building sustainability can be achieved in the context of circular economy.  The building industry has significant environmental, social and economic impacts. As one of the biggest energy consumers and carbon emitters, building sustainability has attracted wide attention globally. Building projects and their associated activities consume a large amount of energy, natural resources and water while producing a large proportion of wastes throughout their lifecycles. The traditional linear approach of “make, use and dispose” has been heavily criticized, whilst the circular approach has gained momentum. Indeed, circular economy has emerged as one of key principles to manage sustainability related issues by means of focusing on the circularity of resources as well as the cost implications.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":50329510707473,"sku":"NGR9783031562402","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031562402.jpg?v=1769681840"},{"product_id":"circular-economy-on-energy-and-natural-resources-industries-book-pedro-mora-9783031562839","title":"Circular Economy on Energy and Natural Resources Industries","description":"This book masterfully bridges the gap between science and industry, offering readers invaluable insights into the technological advancements shaping our world. Despite the huge amount spent on various anti-poverty programs annually, poverty remains a major problem. This persistent challenge necessitates a paradigm shift in which urban poverty could be alleviated in developing countries by leveraging the potential of land titling. Titling could provide the urban poor with the opportunity to use their property titles as collateral for loans, allowing individuals to invest in businesses, upgrade their homes, and lift themselves out of poverty. As a result, job creation and income generation may increase. Land titling is a simple, inexpensive, and effective means of supporting the urban poor, particularly those with small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) initiatives. Similarly, land titling is an antidote to the limited success of property taxation in developing countries, as it provides mapped and transaction-based records. This book will help stakeholders, policymakers, and policy implementers understand and utilize the capacity of titling as a veritable means of poverty alleviation and SME development in developing nations.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":50329533120785,"sku":"NGR9783031595868","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031595866.jpg?v=1770289127"},{"product_id":"sdg18-communication-for-all-volume-1-book-jan-servaes-9783031191442","title":"SDG18 Communication for All, Volume 1","description":"The 2030 agenda for development, or what is known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is the most ambitious agenda collectively agreed upon by 193 countries in human history. It offers guidance and methods in applying sustainability and resilience strategies to attain the prosperity of organizations and communities. The recommendations in this book are based on the author's years of experience in directing applied resilience and sustainability planning for a local government, and years of research covering diverse aspects of sustainability and resilience from climate change, climate preparedness and readiness, quadruple bottom line strategy, greenhouse gas emission reduction policies, climate adaptation and mitigation to sustainable energy policies and initiatives. Chapter one defines terms related to sustainability and resilience and addresses how the topics reshape local governments and communities. Chapter two maps out the sustainability and resilience process for organizations and communities, determining the appropriate steps to be taken at each level of sustainability and resilience planning. Chapter three identifies community and organizational level engagement, with internal and external stakeholders, including designs necessary throughout these processes. Chapter four contains measuring, tracking, monitoring and reporting methods using the quadruple bottom line strategy, and developing a sustainability and resilience progress report to ensure accountability, transparency, and good governance. Then, chapter five details the implementation of a sustainability and resilience plan once it is established, describing potential programs and initiatives to achieve sustainable and resilient communities. Chapter six describes the intersection between sustainability and resilience, and chapter seven examines the tools and resources available to create a practical sustainability and resilience plan. Chaptereight concludes the text by addressing the future of sustainability and resilience, and complexities of the modern dynamics of the interconnected systems in cities, counties, and organizations, and recommends how local government administrators in their planning methods and strategies must consider these challenges.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ GOOD \/ SBYB","offer_id":50403133751569,"sku":"CIN3030102270G","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51064258068753,"sku":"NIN9783030102272","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":52151937106193,"sku":"NGR9783030102272","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52596764115217,"sku":"NLS9783030102272","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3030102270.jpg?v=1751126917"},{"product_id":"sustainable-development-career-counselling-and-career-education-book-laura-nota-9783030600457","title":"Sustainable Development, Career Counselling and Career Education","description":"This book is based on the Life Design paradigm and discusses the efforts made to overcome the matching paradigm between individuals and their work contexts, in order to guarantee the adoption of an active role for future career planning. These results show that career counselling and vocational designing can not only help people to plan their future in agentive ways, but also to help them getting out of the ‘mists of the present’ and to project themselves into a future that is yet to be created. This future is aligned by the world of research and international institutions, such as the UN and WHO, and follows the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with particular attention to Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8 and 12. This book reveals how trajectories can be created from one’s own mission, realized with the help of others and newly acquired strengths. Based on analysis of parliamentary speeches and interviews with 28 out LGBQ parliamentarians in Canada between 2017 and 2020, Tremblay shows how out LGBQ MLAs and MPs take advantage of their intermediary position between the LGBTQ movement and the state to represent LGBTQ people and communities. For example, the politicians in this study introduce pro-LGBTQ bills, lobby cabinet ministers, act as a bridge between LGBTQ groups and the civil service, and give talks in schools about their identities. Most importantly, they act as role models for LGBTQ people (particularly children and teens) and contribute to lifting the social stigma around sexuality and gender identity. This latest volume in our Sustainable Development Goals series underlines that SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) can only be accomplished with political representation for the LGBTQ community and minority groups in general.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51060187922705,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51060190642449,"sku":"NIN9783030913007","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52456038498577,"sku":"NLS9783030913007","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3030913007.jpg?v=1750966625"},{"product_id":"blue-planet-law-book-agatha-christie-9783031248900","title":"Blue Planet Law","description":"Blue Planet Law is the global and future-oriented environmental law that is necessary to face the global environmental crisis in the Anthropocene, assuming especially the link between climate action (SDG 13) and ocean sustainability (SDG 14).","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51060312473873,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51060315324689,"sku":"NIN9783031248900","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52687163162897,"sku":"NLS9783031248900","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031248902.jpg?v=1751317433"},{"product_id":"competences-in-education-for-sustainable-development-book-paul-vare-9783030910570","title":"Competences in Education for Sustainable Development","description":"This volume highlights key moments and movements in this \"competence turn\" in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and explores the different ways in which competences have been conceptualized and implemented. By marshaling a dialogue between chapters and sections, the book provides a coherent whole that will become a key source on ESD competences. The contributors develop a conceptual map against which to chart existing (and future) ESD competence frameworks, offer new critical case studies that explore the implementation of educator competences in ESD at different structural levels in different European contexts, explore the link between pedagogy and educator competence through hitherto unpublished case studies based on current practices across Europe, and consider the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ESD and educator competence. The book comprises 23 chapters divided into four sections, with an introduction and concluding chapter. SectionOne introduces concepts and models related to ESD competences, while the following two sections focus on implementation and pedagogy. It focusses on four kinds of crises – climate change, crime-war cascades, epidemics and financial crises. These catastrophes are conceived as complex and prone to cascade effects. This book is optimistic in explaining that there are identifiable simple institutions that international society can strengthen and some simple principles that can help humankind to control the expanding gamut of complex catastrophes that confront the planet including simple, stable institutions and regulatory bodies. It draws on a wide range of current and past crises and challenges, from the Cold War to COVID-19, and from Weapons of Mass Destruction to restorative diplomacy with States like China, to provide an urgent and timely path forward. Braithwaite argues that improved peacemaking, and step by step progress toward abolition of Weapons of Mass Destruction helps prevent environmental, pandemic, and financial catastrophes. His method across four kinds of crises is first to prioritize simple principles and simple institutions that prevent coupled catastrophes from cascading one to the other. The next step is to pursue requisite variety in responses by diagnosing dialectically when additional interventions will and will not add value for crisis control. Braithwaite argues that minimal sufficiency of deterrence, responsive regulation of risks, and restorative diplomacy offer superior theoretical foundations than realism in international relations theory and in organizational crime control. It speaks to those interested in criminology, public policy and international relations, political science, sociology, public health and economics.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51060341440785,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51060344488209,"sku":"NIN9783031487491","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52660051673361,"sku":"NLS9783031487491","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031487494.jpg?v=1751063686"},{"product_id":"african-design-futures-book-yaw-ofosu-asare-9783031717536","title":"African Design Futures","description":"This book responds to the question \"Is it time to reimagine design education in Africa and decolonise our creative future?\" The proposed volume is designed to provide a source of inspiration to readers in imagining their own futures within fields of Creative industries such as performative art, architecture design, industrial design, media production, drawing and illustration, filmmaking, design, documentary, virtual reality, and others. Subdivided into 11 parts, devoted each to a macro-topic, the book opens with an introduction to Global Health followed by an overview of the global burden of disease – from child and maternal health to communicable and non-communicable diseases. The authors further examine the social determinants of health, health systems’ features as well as innovations, governance and methods in Global Health. In consideration of the emerging discussions and ideas, and beyond the more traditional and essential elements of global health, the book also looks at the need to re-think the whole concept of global health and the importance of a “decolonized” approach that engages low and lower-middle countries fully. One entire part is then devoted to analyzing the major threats tothe health of humanity such as climate change, the need for an ecological approach to health (including “One Health” approaches), and, ultimately, planetary health. Written by an international panel of more than 100 experts, this manual will be an excellent resource for students in a broad range of disciplines – from medicine and other scientific studies to economics, social science, anthropology and international relations. It will be of interest to students and scholars as well as practitioners whose work interrogates higher education, quality assurance, and sustainable development goals.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51065256870161,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51065258737937,"sku":"NIN9783031462412","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031462416.jpg?v=1750934063"},{"product_id":"education-for-sustainable-development-in-primary-and-secondary-schools-book-gliz-karaarslansemiz-9783031091148","title":"Education for Sustainable Development in Primary and Secondary Schools","description":"This volume provides teachers with pedagogical approaches and practical applications to implement Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and with assessment strategies to evaluate the learning outcomes of ESD in primary and secondary education.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51065843384593,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51065845350673,"sku":"NIN9783031091148","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52123215659281,"sku":"NLS9783031091148","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031091140.jpg?v=1750999172"},{"product_id":"anaesthesia-in-remote-hospitals-book-daniela-kietzmann-9783031466090","title":"Anaesthesia in Remote Hospitals","description":"This book provides a concise and practical guide for Non-Physician Anaesthesia Providers (NPAPs) such as nurse anaesthetists and Non-Specialist Physicians working in remote settings. In many hospitals in low and even in some middle-income countries, nurse anaesthetists are working without the presence of a specialist anaesthesiologist at their hospital. During their training on the job or at one of the few schools of anaesthesia they have to act as improvising do-it-yourself-teachers for one another. Later in their professional life, NPAPs are often organising their continuous medical education themselves, trying to provide short presentations on topics between attending to patients. This book fills the need for a quick- to-read guide for the everyday work of NPAPs and Non-specialist physician anaesthesia providers, addressing challenges such as electricity failure, lack of technical support, drugs and materials, equipment and support of specialist anaesthesiologists. Anaesthesia in Remote Hospitals: A Guide for Anaesthesia Providers covers the most important fields of anaesthesia in a typical district or referral hospital in a place where resources are limited. It provides many useful tables with doses of drugs, sizes of airway equipment, infusion rate, examples of observation charts and anaesthesia records. Nurse Anaesthetists, Clinical Officers and Resident Physicians will find this book to be an essential guide to Anaesthesia within low resource and remote settings.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51065964757265,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51065967345937,"sku":"NIN9783031466090","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031466098.jpg?v=1750999273"},{"product_id":"making-of-anti-poverty-policies-in-ghana-book-rosina-k-foli-9783031172298","title":"The Making of Anti-Poverty Policies in Ghana","description":"This book examines the roles played by transnational actors to influence poverty reduction policies in Ghana. Whereas previous studies on anti-poverty policies have primarily focused on the ‘carrot and stick’ approach deployed by transnational actors – whereby developmental assistance is granted in return of certain conditions being met – this book demonstrates that there are several alternative strategies. Indeed, rather than adopting ‘hard’ means of shaping policy, many transnational actors in fact use a ‘soft’ approach characterized by collaboration. In order to demonstrate this, the book examines two poverty reduction programmes. Utilising research based on interviews with national policymakers, civil-society organizations and the media, it compares different approaches used by transnational actors and the attendant outcomes for national and international parties. Drawing on an interdisciplinary perspective, the book will appeal to scholars and students of public policy and international relations.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51066069778705,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51066072432913,"sku":"NIN9783031172298","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52686336033041,"sku":"NLS9783031172298","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031172299.jpg?v=1750838042"},{"product_id":"only-rape-human-rights-and-gender-equality-for-refugee-women-book-eileen-pittaway-9789811909153","title":"Only Rape! Issues of adapting to climate change and sustainability management have been gaining global prominence over the past few decades. There have also been volumes of literature that highlight the technical dimensions of climate change and sustainability across regions and cultures. However, they have had limited strength to bring direct and desirable impact in promoting pro-climate action and sustainability behaviour. The major reason for this is limited inclusion of pluralistic perspectives into human cognition and affect, and resultant limited public acceptability. Although behavioural science as a discipline has taken a front seat in promoting behavioural transformation, the book argues that other humanistic fields of understanding like education, art, literature, philosophy, political science, sociology, economics, etc., have to be integrated in order to present a holistic standpoint to sustainability literature.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51068142911761,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51068143698193,"sku":"NIN9789811685187","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":52456144371985,"sku":"NLS9789811685187","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/9811685185.jpg?v=1751223742"},{"product_id":"people-living-with-disabilities-in-south-african-cities-book-hangwelani-hope-magidimisha-ch-9783031667145","title":"People Living with Disabilities in South African Cities","description":"This book offers a unique and much-needed perspective on disability and accessibility in urban context in South Africa. Drawing on lived experiences of disabled people, it documents the multidimensional aspect of poverty in the context of disability and built environment to show how poorly planned cities create physical and social barriers that impact the life of people with disabilities. People Living with Disabilities in South African Cities is structured around three main insights and themes that inform the author's approach to disability and cities. The first is disability research; drawing on studies on planning and the built environment, the author highlights the role of physical environment in promoting inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities. The second theme is social protection, i.e. ways to provide support and resources for people with disabilities to enable them to participate fully in society. Finally, the author explores the policies and legislative context needed to create an inclusive society, challenging the role of governments and policy makers. Offering a comprehensive approach to studying disabilities and cities, the author aims to bridge the gap between disability studies, inclusive planning, and design to support the development of accessible cities in the African context. This invaluable book not only raises awareness on social inclusion, but also offers an invaluable guide to policy makers across the Global South to tackle and address inequalities.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"US \/ NEW \/ INGRAM","offer_id":51138198602001,"sku":"NIN9783031667145","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":52153435095313,"sku":"NGR9783031667145","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/303166714X.jpg?v=1751188787"},{"product_id":"geosciences-and-the-sustainable-development-goals-book-joel-c-gill-9783030388171","title":"Geosciences and the Sustainable Development Goals","description":"Meeting the targets of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires contributions by scientists focusing on understanding, monitoring, protecting, managing and restoring the natural environment, including geoscientists. Rather than a manual or how-to guide, we propose a roadmap and vision of equitable, sustainable, and impactful partnerships shared through a rich interweaving of voices: North and South, academics and community practitioners, senior mentors and trainees, multiple generations, and multiple disciplines. We focus on the stories that need to be told, the successes and the failures, and visions for a healthier and more compassionate future for humanity. This book was written by more than 90 authors from 26 countries, bringing diverse perspectives on global health partnerships' past, present, and future. Although many of the chapters use examples related to infectious diseases, the ideas in this book are relevant to the broader field of global health research and practice. This book is organized into three sections, broadly related to foundational concepts, present experiences (case studies), and future visions. The first section focuses on the historical colonial legacy of global health and the foundations needed for equitable partnerships, introducing key themes explored throughout the book. These include concepts related to decolonization, ethics, gender, systems approaches and transdisciplinary science, Planetary Health, One Health, team science, and communication. The book's second section draws on case studies of global health partnerships to understand where we are today in global health. Authors share their experiences responding to global health threats, including disease outbreaks, refugee health, stigma, and sexually transmitted diseases, and post-disaster community recovery. The book's third section articulates a new vision for global health partnerships to co-create a more peaceful, equitable, and loving world. This vision is urgently needed to address the challenges emerging in the context of global climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other human threats.  This is an open access book.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51216424435985,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":51216426729745,"sku":"NGR9783031537929","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031537920.jpg?v=1770290114"},{"product_id":"heart-disease-and-climate-change-book-simon-stewart-9783031731051","title":"Heart Disease and Climate Change","description":"This Open Access book describes how the aging populations of high-income countries and younger, more vulnerable populations living in low-to-middle income countries are increasingly affected by cardiac events (including hospitalisation and premature mortality) that do not occur randomly. Instead, they rise and fall in response to climatic conditions. This relationship represents a complex bio-behavioral interaction between individuals at risk of experiencing an acute cardiovascular event and their environment. Unfortunately, expert guidelines and epidemiological reports ignore this fundamental fact – cardiac events in nearly every country fluctuate with predictable climatic transitions (seasons) and random external provocations (including noise and air pollution plus unseasonal cold snaps and heat waves). Climate change, in the form of more unpredictable weather (including more sustained heat waves) will only exacerbate the problem, especially among the world’s poorest people. Heart Disease and Climate Change articulates why this phenomenon occurs, how climate change is likely to exacerbate the problem (thereby harming economies\/stifling Development Goals) and what we need to do to mitigate the impact of climate change on heart health. It identifies key areas for future research\/reporting of cardiac events and hence is an essential reference for all interested in the management of patients in cardiovascular medicine, from cardiologists, internists and primary care physicians to healthcare administrators, climate researchers and politicians.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"- \/ - \/ -","offer_id":51216637296913,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":51216640049425,"sku":"NGR9783031731051","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/3031731050.jpg?v=1751448697"},{"product_id":"environmental-social-and-governance-and-sustainable-development-in-healthcare-book-tiffany-cheng-han-leung-9789819915668","title":"Environmental, Social and Governance and Sustainable Development in Healthcare","description":"This book applies environmental, social and governance (ESG) to issues of sustainable development in healthcare. ESG reporting has been widely used for some time in the business industry to show the economic, social and environmental responsibilities of companies that aim to achieve superior ESG performance for lower risk, more accountability and transparency. Moreover, public-listed companies in healthcare have been growing in significant numbers in recent years. The application or practice of ESG in healthcare has become a growing trend for these large organisations looking to demonstrate their strengths in areas of financing, operations, sustainability and social responsibilities. Such an approach is essential not only for the long-term development of the companies but also for services delivered by healthcare practitioners. Equally, the implications to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 is relevant to healthcare worldwide with a growing ageing population, which has led to a great burden of care in many countries, particularly in the public sector. The potential development and expansion in private healthcare services, accelerated by technology advancement, has demanded a new paradigm in the healthcare industry, particularly in business, service delivery and policy. The book examines this paradigm through health in all policies, ESG and SDG 3 objectives, research, training and practice. It is relevant to graduate students and scholars working in areas relating to health, business and the SDGs and is also useful to policymakers and practitioners in healthcare.","brand":"WoB","offers":[{"title":"GB \/ NEW \/ GARDNERS","offer_id":51217152475409,"sku":"NGR9789819915668","price":0.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0784\/4072\/6801\/files\/981991566X.jpg?v=1751286680"},{"product_id":"building-institutions-for-resilience-book-andrew-simmons-9783031288838","title":"Building Institutions for Resilience","description":"This volume uses a case study approach to present data on the relevance and effectiveness of the strategic actions implemented by NGOs, IGOs and governments at national, regional, and international scales, drawing lessons and recommendations to enhance the capacity of governments and institutions to deliver on climate change adaptation and sustainable development initiatives.
