This text aims to provide a selective, critical guide to the best and the typical in scholarship and criticism on literature of the Romantic period, 1780-1830. A list of references is provided at the end of each chapter, and there are individual chapters on the main poets and novelists of the period, as well as chapters on women poets, women novelists, male poets, political prose and essayists. The introduction surveys general studies of the period. Through its interacting perspectives, the book aims to offer a valuable resource to students of the period.
