Walters, Michael: - Michael Walters is a higher education information technology facilitator and innovator. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and an M.B.A. from the University of Wyoming and has worked in higher education for 33 years. He has spent his career in higher education working first at the University of Wyoming where he directed the academic and administrative computing and networking functions for seven community colleges. He also directed the Client Support Services department. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Information Technology and the Chief Information Officer at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming. By working closely with faculty, he provided them with the technology tools and environment to be successful in their classrooms including a broad range of operating systems tailored to their instructional needs. He also met regularly with the students to determine the technology they needed to be competitive in the market place and to enhance their education. Under Michael's leadership and with the collaboration of faculty, students, and IT staff, the college has ranked nationally as the number one digital community college in the United States for the mid-size category three years in a row.
