Bistro is for anyone who values great food, simply prepared, Written by award winning chef Philip Johnson, this superb collection of recipes celebrates his signature style: unpretentious, welcoming food that surprises through its sure execution and spot-on flavour combinations. Divided in three sections, Bistro contains classic cafe fare and more elaborate meals, as well as the sorts of desserts you long for but rarely find. With Bistro, the search is over.
Although hailing from rural New Zealand, Phillip Johnson has become one of Australia's most renowned chefs. After gaining his initial culinary experience and honing his skills in Australia, London and New Zealand, he made an immediate name for himself when he opened Le Bronx in Brisbane in 1988. He opened a second restaurant, E'cco, in 1995 and never looked back. In 1997 E'cco was awarded the Remy Martin Cognac / Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant of the Year. Currently he holds appointments as Air New Zealand's sole consulting chef, and conducts numerous cooking classes and guest chef appearances, both nationally and internationally.
