This antique text comprises a practical manual on bee-keeping, originally published in 1879 with a view to improve the condition of existing apiaries and to encourage the establishment of new ones in places which offer every security for their prosperity. An interesting insight into the history and development of bee-keeping in Europe, this volume contains much in the way of information that is still useful today. It constitutes a worthy addition to collections of bee-keeping literature. John Hunter was the Honorary Secretary of the British Beekeepers' Association. Three editions of his book, A Manual of Beekeeping, were printed within four years.
