Complete Guide to Chinese Calligraphy by Qu Lei Lei
Chinese calligraphy is an art that has been developed through thousands of years of careful study. A skilled calligrapher can use his brush to express the most evocative emotions and produce elegant decorations. By following Qu Lei Lei's clear techniques and detailed step-by-step instructions you can replicate the scripts that have dominated the history of Chinese calligraphy and bring meaning and style to your writing.
Born to a family of artists and writers in 1950s China, Qu Lei Lei came to England from Beijing in 1985. Introduced to Chinese calligraphy in early childhood, he has practised calligraphy and painting for the last forty years, and now lives and works in London as a traditional and contemporary artist. Lei Lei has been teaching and lecturing in Chinese art for several years. He is a guest lecturer at the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Ruskin School of Art, and Christie's and Sotheby's auction houses. In 2000 he was awarded the Millennium Adult Tutor Award for Great Britain. Lei Lei regularly exhibits his calligraphy and paintings both in the UK and internationally. Recent exhibitions have taken place in Paris, Geneva, Spain, Singapore, Tokyo and Venice.
