Digital Scrapbooking in Easy Steps by John Slater
The last decade has seen an explosion in the craft industry and particularly in the area of scrapbooking. At one time or another we must all have put pictures in an album and added the odd description, kept a menu of a memorable meal or a ticket from a great train journey. Scrapbooking has developed these ideas into a fun, interesting and worthwhile hobby. Digital Scrapbooking is a way to translate the ideas we see on paper into amazing designs on the computer. Now in the digital age, with computers and digital cameras easily accessible to many, Digital Scrapbooking is becoming a popular hobby. Digital Scrapbooking in easy steps offers hobbyists a simple straightforward guide to preserving their memories on the computer. The book starts with the techniques for getting images, type, and embellishments. Then, it shows how to put it altogether. Starting with very simple designs, readers are encouraged to build on the techniques learnt to develop more interesting designs. The guide also includes a comprehensive troubleshooting guide and suggestions on online support and ideas.Jan 07
Tired of trying to find space for those hefty 12 x 12 albums, or tramping around strange towns looking for scrapbooking stores? Or perhaps, like this reviewer, you love your paper and paste but want to learn how to do some fancy effects with graphics programs, and then use your virtual art for many applications? Either way, digital scrapbooking is here to stay and here is where you can learn all about it
This is a remarkably user-friendly book, with plenty of staged lessons and full color pictures of staged steps. There are even downloadable images from the publisher's own website so you can follow the lessons to the letter on your own computer. You will find this book useful if you have Photoshop Elements, as it uses this program throughout and if you don't yet have it then, like me, you will certainly want to own it by the end of the book. Paint Shop Pro and ordinary Photoshop owners will be able to follow some of it, but I found it rather like going to dog obedience classes when you actually own a cat. But if Elements is your bag, then this is a fun and easy way to discover its intricacies and put it through its paces, creating some great stuff that you can be proud of. Essential book for all owners or would-be owners of this program, but if you have something like Scrapbook Factory then this is not the book for you.
