She suffers from age-related macular degeneration, which does not cause total blindness but makes everyday activities like reading and writing challenging. Maureen has always embraced new technologies, and despite being unable to see a keyboard clearly enough to type, she dictated her first book Four Legs and a Halo, on an iPad.
