The Fundamentals of Fashion Management by Susan Dillon

In The Fundamentals of Fashion Management, Susan Dillon takes an in-depth look at the varied and competitive fashion trade. Giving readers a behind-the-scenes insight into the roles and processes of the industry, this title combines creative and business approaches for those who want to gain an understanding of what it means to work in the fashion sector. Clearly organized chapters explore fashion forecasting, merchandising and communication, as well as the events incorporated in the fashion calendar. Overall, the book forms an informative and beautifully illustrated introduction to the subject.
Fashion forward, attractive and excellent! * Young Kim, Kent State University, USA *
Really clear & attractive book where layout is concerned - very informative and will be useful for any student who may be interested in this area* Jane Herzog, Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts, UK *
A good overview of the subject, covering a very wide subject area ... I found the interviews to be a nice addition, which helped to keep the text true to life. I found the layouts and visuals very strong. * Paul Mackie, University of Southampton, UK *
A perfect book as an introduction to fashion management...thank you. * Thorbjorn Magnusson, University of Gothenburg, Sweden *
The book broke this complex area down into manageable chunks. * Rachel Matthews, Melbourne School of Fashion, Holmes Institute, Australia *
The book has the feel of a website with bold images, fonts, and graphics and concise text. It demythologizes its subject by demonstrating in an organized way that fashion management is a calculated business based on budgeting, forecasting, and planning as much as creativity and design ... A good resource - especially for career sections in high school/public libraries or in a college career center. Summing Up: Recommended. Lower-level undergraduates, two-year technical program students, general readers. * A. J. Dutka, Choice review, April 2012 *
A clearly formulated book, full of current and lively visuals. A really good overview of all aspects of the industry which would give an excellent introduction to first years. Chapters are really well sequenced and the content gives a clear overview of management in the fashion industry. The approach is very practical and examples are drawn for all market levels in the industry. * R Goulding, Nottingham Trent University, UK *
A very good first textbook for an introduction to the field. * Alexander Bretz, Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences Germany *
the content is good for an intermediate level, the exercises are simple for the subject, but the level can be increased easily. -- Lissette Marin-Moguel, Unversida Anahuac Mayab, Mexico
