The Global Politics Reader: A Foundational Anthology provides students with a carefully curated selection of articles that explore the discipline of international relations. The anthology is organized into six distinct units. Unit I introduces students to global studies through a political and economic lens, as well as select theories pertaining to international relations. Unit II discusses the two most important methodological approaches that have been applied to the study of international relations: quantitative and qualitative. In Units III and IV, students learn about the different state and non-state actors in international relations and the importance of international relations in helping us achieve international, national, and human security. Unit V identifies the most important subfields of international relations, including international law, international political economy, international peace and security, and geopolitics. The final unit discusses the future of international relations as an academic discipline. Unit introductions, editor's introductions to readings, key concepts, and post-reading questions deepen the reading and learning experience. Preya Bhattacharya is an assistant professor at the Department of Political Science, Xavier University of Louisiana. Before joining Xavier University, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research and teaching interests are international relations, international political economy, and research methods.
