Guide for Alternate Route Teachers by Frances Levin
Guide for Alternate Route Teachers, 2/e features a wealth of advice and hands-on strategies for helping new and alternate route teachers navigate through their first year of teaching. It gives these educators what they need to understand the context of a classroom, develop effective classroom management skills, and successfully face the many and varied challenges of teaching in today’s classrooms. For alternate route teachers in particular, it effectively bridges their existing information gap as they complete their educational training.
A specific strength of this text is its emphasis on the use of literacy skills across the curriculum and across all grade levels, a concept often overlooked by upper level and content area teachersAn additional strength is the promotion of individual reflection, encouraging new teachers to consider their abilities and styles throughout the planning and implementation process and allowing individualization of the teacher experience. -- Sherry Sanden, Washington State University
