This study of orchids, designed for both the amateur and professional botanist, has been revised and updated to include detailed descriptions of two new species of wild orchid, accompanied by further photographs and maps showing their distribution. The guide describes the structure, life cycle and reproduction of 51 species, and supplies details of their classification and hybridization. A distribution map for each species is given, based on the most recent information from the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology.
David Lang is a retired veterinary surgeon who spent most of his working life in country practice in Sussex. He is the author of several books on the orchids of Britain, including The Orchids of Sussex.
