Harvey the Carpenter by Lars Klinting

Introducing Harvey - the busiest beaver in the world! Harvey's workshop has every tool imaginable, but it is a bit messy. So he decides to make himself a toolbox for storing his tools. First, he studies his drawing carefully. Then he proceeds to saw his boards, sand down the wood, bore holes, screw the pieces together and hammer in nails until his toolbox is ready to use. Young readers will love following along with the carpentry process and identifying all of the tools and materials that Harvey uses. At the end of the book, there are instructions and drawings for making a toolbox, just like Harvey!
Lars Klinting has written and/or illustrated over 20 children's books in his native Sweden. He is most famous for his beaver books, which have been translated into 18 languages and have sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. Like Harvey, Lars is very handy. He trained as a carpenter and also enjoys sewing, cooking, gardening and painting. In 1987, Lars was awarded the Elsa Beskow Plaque for illustration and in 1990 the IBBY presented him with an honorary diploma for illustration. He lives outside of Stockholm with his wife, also a children's book illustrator.
