Internet For Dummies by John R Levine
A guide to using the Internet, this edition is updated to include information on new Web browsers, what's happening on the commercial online services and using the Internet on a variety of computing platforms. As in previous editions, it addresses connecting to the Internet, finding and installing the software needed, sending and receiving e-mail, searching for information, receiving "pushed" information and trading files via FTP. It also covers special topics like Internet privacy, making special purchases on the Internet, using an online service to access Internet resources, choosing the right Internet provider for your needs and sources for helpful tools. It also discusses how the new Internet options of Windows 98 will revolutionize how we perceive computing in the run-up to the Millennium.
