Colin Westerbeck is the author of several photography publications, including Chuck Close: Photographer, A Democracy of Imagery, and Bystander, A History of Street Photography, co-authored with Joel Meyerowitz. He has written a weekly photography column for the Los Angeles Times and is a frequent writer to Art in America. He is the former curator of photography at the Art Institute of Chicago and the former director of the California Museum of Photography at the University of California, Riverside. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
