David Nicolle is Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Medieval Studies, Nottingham University. He is the author of numerous books on aspects of medieval military history, including MAA 140 Armies of the Ottoman Turks, MAA 320 Armies of the Caliphates 862–1098, and Campaign 43 Fornovo 1495 for Osprey. For some years he taught art and architectural history at Yarmuk University, Jordan.

Richard Hook was one of the world's greatest military illustrators and has contributed to more than 30 Osprey titles.
