Mastermaths by Paul Briten

This is the revised edition of a text first published in 1984. The book offers a range of carefully graded practice questions, which are presented in a straightforward manner. Each set of questions is introduced by an explanation, and the first question of every exercise is completed as an example which enables the pupils to attempt the questions without refering to the teacher. The vocabulary used is simple, and the clear mathematics headings in the contents list make it easy for the teacher to find practice on whatever topic they are teaching. New to this edition is a "maths in action" section, which enables students to apply their knowledge and skills to more open-ended questions, and assessment pages which help teachers and pupils check understanding of important concepts. At the end of the book there are two pages of mental check questions, giving practice in mental arithmatic. The book is part of the "Mastermaths" series, which includes four pupil's books, teacher's texts and a mental arithmatic test pack.
