Each section concludes with a "Who's Who" and a "Timeline", and a survey of developments around the world which allows for comparisons between regions, at a glance.
Neil Grant is from a military family and grew up on a succession of army bases. Neil has a degree in archaeology, and presently works for English Heritage. The author lives in Teddington, Middlesex.
