Dr. Harold Silverman, a Columbia University graduate, has worked as a hospital pharmacist, industry consultant, author, and instructor for over 35 years. Dr. Silverman's professional goal is to assist individuals understand why they are prescribed drugs and how to get the most out of them. Dr. Silverman is also the author of The Women's Drug Shop, The Pill Book Guide to Safe Drug Usage, The Consumer's Guide to Poison Prevention, and Travel Healthy, in addition to The Pill Book. He's also a co-author of The Vitamin Book: A No-Nonsense Consumer Guide and The Med-File Drug Interactions System, among other books. Dr. Silverman has contributed to the professional literature with over 70 publications, research papers, and textbook chapters, including The Merck Manual of Medical Information, Home Edition.
He has won multiple accolades for his work and has taught pharmacology and clinical pharmacy at several colleges. Dr. Silverman is a Washington, D.C. resident. With his wife, Judith Brown, and their son Joshua, he lives in the region.
