Reading Champion: Day and Night by Jackie Walter

This book is part of Reading Champion, a series carefully linked to book bands to encourage independent reading skills, developed with UCL Institute of Education (IOE) Day and Night is a non-fiction text explaining the different things that happen in the day and at night. The simple sentence structure offers readers the opportunity for an independent reading experience with the support of the illustrations. Reading Champion offers independent reading books for children to practise and reinforce their developing reading skills. This early non-fiction text is accompanied by engaging artwork and a reading activity. Each book has been carefully graded so that it can be matched to a child's reading ability, encouraging reading for pleasure.
Jackie Walter has written and edited many books for children. She never gets tired of listening to and telling a good story. Jackie lives in Cornwall with her husband and young daughters. Irene is an illustrator who lives in Sicily. When she's not illustrating books for publishing houses, she enjoys playing sport and going on long walks (usually not less than one hour and a half!), baking cakes and taking pics of them (and drawing them too!).
