In 1983, Arthur Miller was invited to Beijing to direct the first Chinese production of Death of a Salesman. This book is the diary he kept during of that unique and eccentric production. The diary portrays the challenges that faced Miller as a Liberal American playwright and director working in Communist China. Arthur Miller was born in New York in 1915. After graduating from the University of Michigan, he started a career as a playwright which resulted in more than 25 important plays. He has also written fiction, screenplays, and non-fiction. He died on February 10 2005.
