Sami Hyypi by Sami Hyypia
This candid biography focuses on Sami Hyypia's eventful journey from his home village of Voikkaa to the heights of English premiership football as a pivotal member of the Liverpool team. It charts his life from childhood and documents his astonishing rise to fame in football, from youth teams to the Finnish senior sides Pallo-Peikot, KuMu and MyPa, as well as his successful international career, before moving on to his years in Holland and England, playing for Willem II and Liverpool respectively. Featuring contributions from many colleagues and teammates including Joonas Kolkka, Antti Niemi and Michael Owen, "Sami Hyypia" digs deep to reveal all about the man, his views on the game and life in general and his plans for the future.
Sami Hyypia was born in 1973 and joined Liverpool FC in 1999. He played a large part in the club's treble-winning campaign of season 2000-01 and has captained the side on several occasions, including the 2001 FA and UEFA Cup finals, the Charity Shield victory against Manchester United and the Super Cup success against Bayern Munich.
