The original Irish Walk Guides, first published in the 1970s, have been revised and updated in this new series, which covers all principal hillwalking areas of the country. Each book contains about 70 walks, ranging in difficulty and length from gentle stolls for all the family up to demanding climbs on the higher peaks. The New Irish Walk Guides will prove worthy successors to the first series. Where classic walks are repeated from the previous books, the routes have all been walked anew and are described afresh. In addition, many new walks are included for the first time and the growing number of long-distance walks receive due attention.

Joss Lynam is the doyen of Irish walkers and mountaineers. He has published many books on walking in Ireland, and was general editor of the original Irish Walk Guides series. An experienced Alpine and Himalayan mountaineer, he lives in Dublin and is editor of the 'Irish Mountain Log'.
