Stevenson's Scotland by Robert Louis Stevenson

Robert Louis Stevenson travelled the world from Silverado to Samoa, where he died aged only 44. Wherever he went his love of his native land stayed with him, and he dreamed of resting from his travels at last in a Scottish churchyard. Stevenson knew Scotland intimately, and he described it all, from rugged offshore lighthouses and bleak Highland moors to his beloved Pentlands and teeming Edinburgh streets. For the first time, the best of these writings are collected in a haunting and unforgettable anthology, which includes previously unpublished material.
'His complexities and hang-ups were the raw materials for much of his fiction, but here's the essential Louis, enthusiastic, erudite, but usually with a mischievous self-puncturing laugh not too far away' The Scots Magazine 'The book would make an agreeable companion for a tour of Scotland.' Sunday Herald 'The material is all well chosen and arranged, and makes a highly entertaining read for anyone interested in seeing Scotland through the eyes of a canny wee literary adventurer.' The List
Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) was born in Edinburgh. Best known for his popular novels, Treasure Island and Kidnapped, he travelled widely in Europe and the United States, eventually settling in Samoa. He is buried there, on Mount Vaea.
