MEET DETECTIVE KATE HAMBLIN IN THIS BESTSELLING SERIES FROM A FORMER POLICE OFFICER.

Six old friends. A weekend in a country hotel. A ruthless killer among them.

Detective Kate and her husband Hayden are on their way home from a romantic mini-break when a ferocious storm blows in and their car breaks down. Stranded on a remote lane in the blizzard, they seek shelter in a nearby country hotel.

They aren't the only guests. Six old university friends are meeting up for a reunion weekend.

One of them hides a terrible secret.

The next morning, a body is found in the hotel lake. A tragic accident it would appear.

The following day, a second guest is found drowned in the bathtub.

Two drownings in two days is no coincidence.

Snowed in, with no signal and the phone lines down, Detective Kate must unmask the killer among them before more guests meet a grisly end.

Perfect for fans of Rachel Abbott, Joy Ellis, Mel Sherratt, Angela Marsons and Helen H. Durrant.

David Hodges, the eighth child in a family of 10, was always seen as a doer. He never accepted no for an answer and was always eager to learn more. David grew up on a spacious 42-acre farm in Lexington, Mississippi, where he was born. Baking had always piqued his interest, and he would spend hours in the kitchen watching his mother work her magic. When David was ten years old, he was sitting in the kitchen watching his mother knead dough, and a desire to bake came over him, and he knew he, too, would grow up to be a baker.

David began to fantasize about traveling the world as a baker when he was fifteen years old, and his desire was to do so while sailing. David enrolled in a Baker's Class at Atterbury Job Corps Center in Edinburg, Indiana, and graduated with a diploma in baking as he pursued his passion through high school and on to Atterbury Job Corps Center. David was off and running in pursuit of his dream, thanks to the vision he experienced had so long ago. He went to Chicago after Atterbury and worked at Ward Bakery for three months.

From there, David and his brother departed Chicago in a 1967 Nova and drove cross-country to Los Angeles. He went to Central Adult School and did a Cake Designing course, graduating in the top half of his class. David enrolled in a baking and culinary class at the Clarified Job Corps Center in Oregon, Utah, still hungry for more information, and stepped directly into his destiny. One of David's teachers inquired as to whether any of the kids were interested in joining the Merchant Marines.

Working aboard cruise ships all over the world was part of the job. David, of course, leaped at the chance and was soon sailing the seven seas. For several years, he worked as a cook and baker on a variety of cruise ships. David had a nervous breakdown after his parents divorced and resigned from the Merchant Marines.

While receiving treatment for Schizophrenia and depression, he went home and searched for answers to life's big issues. On May 5, 1980, David accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart. That day, the pastor's message focused on Jesus as our eternal lifeline. After considerable study, David felt compelled to tell his life experience in order to lead others to the Bible and be redeemed by Jesus' grace and kindness.
