She is the author of several children's picture books, including The Three Little Javelinas, a Reading Rainbow Book, and The Bookmaker and the Elves, a Spur Award winner from the Western Writers of America. I Am Lavina Cumming and The Boy with the Paper Wings are two of her novels for older children. Her family splits their time between Tucson, Arizona, and a ranch near the Mexican border, where she and her husband live with their two girls.
