Debbie Johnson is passionate about making a difference in people's lives. She created DenverWorks in 1995 to help unemployed people in her city. She served as the organization's Executive Director for eleven years before leaving to become the Vice President of Programs at Dalit Liberation Network and later the Executive Director of India Transformed. After seven travels to India's slums, she finally saw the Taj Mahal. Debbie grew raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, and returned to DenverWorks in 2015.
She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a master's degree in music education, which has little to do with her social work save that Beethoven and jazz ensembles are excellent for the soul. Her husband and she live on a farm in the Rockies Mountains. Debbie enjoys harvesting vegetables from their garden and cooking traditional Southern dishes for her family and guests.
