But the writers in this book argue that eschatology of creation's future in God's purposes - is profoundly relevant for contempory life. The book outlines biblical and historical teachings on eschatology, and then creatively explores their implications for a range of current issues from art to politics, from ecology to pop culture, from mission to work, and from gender issues to ethics.
Steve Holmes is a Baptist minister, writer and speaker, and presently Senior Lecturer in Theology at the University of St Andrews. He is a member of the leadership team at St Andrews Baptist Church, and on the board of trustees of the Evangelical Alliance UK and of Chapel St Community Schools, a Christian charity working for social regeneration in deprived areas. Having worked for The Salvation Army's UK Mission Team for 12 years,Russell Rook is now the Director of ALOVE, The Salvation Army for a new generation in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Russell is the chairman of the executive committee for 'Youthwork, the Partnership,' a coalition of national youth work support agencies, and is a consultative editor for Youthwork magazine. Russell is currently undertaking post-graduate research into the relationship between theology and culture at King's College London.
