The Winnie-the-Pooh Winter Collection of Stories and Poems by A A Milne

The exquisitely beautiful Winter Collection includes favourite Winnie-the-Pooh stories and seasonal poems by A.A. Milne with decorations by E.H. Shepard. With four original stories including: `In which Piglet is Entirely Surrounded by Water’ and `In which Pooh and Piglet go Hunting and nearly catch a Woozle’, and the beloved festive poem `King’s John Christmas’ this treasury is full of festive gems. With previously unpublished illustrations by E. H. Shepard, too, this is the perfect Christmas gift. A nostalgic offering that can be enjoyed by parents and children alike. Perfect bedtime reading for children aged 6 and up. Also available: Winnie-the-Pooh: Pooh's Christmas Letters and Winnie-the-Pooh: Christmas Stories Milne’s classic children’s stories – featuring Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Christopher Robin and, of course, Pooh himself – are both heart-warming and funny, teaching lessons of friendship and reflecting the power of a child’s imagination like no other story before or since. A.A. Milne is quite simply one of the most famous children’s authors of all time. He created Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Kanga and Roo based on the real nursery toys played with by his son, Christopher Robin. And those characters not only became the stars of his classic children’s books, Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner, and his poetry for children, they have also been adapted for film, TV and the stage. Through his writings for Punch magazine, A.A. Milne met E.H. Shepard. Shepard went on to draw the original illustrations to accompany Milne’s classics, earning him the name “the man who drew Pooh”.
E. H. Shepard famously illustrated both 'Winnie-the-Pooh' and 'The Wind in the Willows' though, like A A Milne, much of his career was devoted to work for the satirical magazine Punch. To do the illustrations for 'Winnie-the-Pooh', Shepard observed the real Christopher Robin Milne, but not the real Pooh. The bear in the pictures is in fact based on Growler, a toy belonging to Shepard's own son.
