Summary

Poor Matilda’s parents are truly awful. They don’t listen to her, they call her names, they don’t pay her attention to her and discourage her from doing the things that she loves such as reading books. They continuously reject her and believe that she is tiresome and stupid. However, it is plain to see that they are the ones who are foolish and unkind, and Matilda is in fact a gentle genius who just needs some love and encouragement to shine.
