Duckworth was named one of America's Six Master Instructors by the American Music Society. Duckworth's awards include the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Internet Award in 2001, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts' Award in Music in 2002, and a 2007 Senior Fulbright Specialist Award, which placed him at the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre in Brisbane, Australia, and culminated in iOrpheus, Duckworth and Farrell's two-year project that included video podcasts, stage performances, and a public opera.
