Helen has no official textile training, but she comes from a long line of talented needlewomen, having learned from her mother and grandmother since she was a child. She enjoys working with fabric and thread, and her favorite methods are embroidery and applique, as well as drawing patterns for charming softies. Helen enjoys sharing her designs with others, both expert stitchers and newcomers, and she aims to introduce new people to the joy and satisfaction of making something for oneself. (Making it yourself is becoming a highly popular alternative in today's economic circumstances, combined with the growing resurrection of old skills.) She enjoys repurposing old fabrics into new creations, saving even the tiniest bits for applique work, and she believes this shows in her work.

Helen operates Bustle & Sew, an internet-based business that is a global concern (even if it is a very small one!) from her home in the beautiful South Hams area of Devon. She sends out an e-Magazine to my subscribers every month, containing a selection of my own patterns, as well as stories and features, to readers in the United States, Australia, Brazil, and Japan (as well as the United Kingdom). Her sewing patterns and the Bustle & Sew Magazine are both sold as easy-to-download pdf downloads geared at stitchers with beginner to intermediate skills, so they appeal to a wide range of people.
