Lord of the Libraries by Mel Odom
Close to a hundred years have passed since the events of "The Rover", and Edgewick Lamplighter, "the Rover," is now a master librarian at Great Library. But unlike his fellow academicians, he has roved the outside world tracking down rare and necessary volumes for the Vauit of All Known Knowledge. Given his advanced age, it has become necessary for him to take on an apprentice for these mysterious journeys, namely Juhg, a halfling as green as Wick was back when his first adventure as "the Rover" began. Dark forces are out to destroy those who might defend the world, and it is up to these lowly librarians to secure the volumes that, if they fall into the wrong hands, will lead to a new era of darkness where knowledge will only unlock the forces of evil. The Vault of All Known Knowledge has been destroyed by a booby-trapped volume. Now Wick's young apprentice has to venture out in search of a fabled other library-which may have already fallen into the hands of the darker powers.
Mel Odom is a bestselling writer for hire for Wizards of the Coast's Forgotten Realms, Gold Eagle's Mack Bolan, and Pocket's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel book lines.
