The Melancholic Mermaid by Kallie George

Maude always liked her two tails, until the other merchildren began teasing her for being different. Ridiculed and lonely, she doesn't think her life could get any worse - until, one day, she is captured by a fisherman. On land, Tony faces difficulties of his own. Born with webbed fingers, he too is treated as an outcast. Hoping to find acceptance, he joins a circus; but the ringmistress is cruel and life becomes even more unbearable. Then, one day, the circus purchases a two-tailed mermaid caught straight from the sea...
