Ursula Le Guin was born in California and studied at Radcliffe College and Columbia University. She writes poetry, screenplays, essays and fiction of all kinds. She is best-known for her fantasy EARTHSEA sequence. She has won many awards in the US, including the Newbery Medal. Ursula has taught creative writing in the US, England and Australia and she now lives in Portland, Oregon.
