Partners in Protest by Diana Collins

Written by his wife, this is an account of life with the radical Canon Collins, a founder of CND, a central figure in the anti-apartheid movement, and a constant thorn in the side of the Church. John Collins was Dean of Oriel College, but after wartime service he left academia to found and direct a number of influential campaigning organizations - Christian Action, the movement for reconciliation with post-war Germany, CND, and South African Defence and Aid. For 44 years until his death in 1982 he shared this life with Diana, and the couple numbered among their friends Nelson Mandela, Alan Paton, Oliver Tambo, Bertrand Russell and J.B. Prestley.
