Resident Alien: Quentin Crisp explains it all by Tim Fountain

The acclaimed one-man show based on the life and writings of Quentin Crisp. Tim Fountain's monologue play Resident Alien: Quentin Crisp explains it all was first staged at the Bush Theatre, London, in November 1999 in a production directed by Mike Bradwell and starring the legendary Bette Bourne. It transferred to New York Theatre Workshop in 2001, where it played a three month sell-out season and won two OBIE awards.  The show won a Herald Angel at the Edinburgh Festival and has enjoyed sold out runs across America, Australia and the UK. It has also been broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

'The great majority of this absorbing monologue consists of Crisp's own words.. wisely Fountain doesn't attempt any trudge through the life story... Instead Crisp treats us to his views on television, oral sex, the nature of style and the secret of happiness'

* Daily Telegraph *

'Bourne, as much as Crisp, is one of the stately homos of England; the combination of the two is irresistible'

* Financial Times *

'A lovely, affectionate tribute to Quentin Crisp'

* New York Observer *

'Effortlessly witty'

* Time Out *

'Funny, touching, unsentimental, sometimes even profound'

* The Times *

'The authentic Crisp in all his subversive glory'

* Daily Telegraph *
Tim Fountain was literary manager of the Bush Theatre in London. He teaches playwriting and is a playwright himself.
