World of Books
Stock Processing Team - AM shift 6.30 till 14.30 (£7.20 an hour for 21-24 year olds and £7.50 per hour for over 25s) | PM shift 14.30 - 22.30 (£7.60 per hour for 21-24 year olds and £7.90 per hour for over 25s) Lower rates for under 21-year olds
Our Stock Processing team is responsible for scanning all the books that are delivered to our Goring-by-Sea site daily. Working with a colleague the books are sorted from containers and then scanned to determine whether the book should be placed in stock or be recycled.
Each partnership has a target number of books to scan per hour to ensure that we can register as many new books as possible on a daily basis and to maintain our inventory of 2 million books in stock.
The focus is on creating and developing great teamwork so that the scanning targets are met.
Picking Team - PM shift 14.30 - 22.30 (£7.60 an hour for 21-24 year olds and £7.90 per hour for over 25s) Lower rates for under 21-year olds
Our Picking team are responsible for locating the books stored in our inventory which our customers have ordered. We provide ourselves on meeting our customers' needs and so it is really important that once a book is ordered it gets to the customer as quickly as possible. To help this happen each team member is asked to fulfil a target number of orders per hour.
Each of our Pickers works independently throughout our two Warehouses locating orders from our stock. Being a Picker is very physical, involves lots of walking and involves working at height (ladders provided). A Picker may also be asked to some of the time and can involve moving boxes weighing up to 20 kgs.
Multi-drop Van Driver - 42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
Our Drivers are responsible for supporting the Logistics team with the collection of stock from Charity Shops and delivering back to base (variety of locations). Our Drivers are required to be over 25 for insurance purposes, hold a clean licence and have experience of driving a 3.5 tonne commercial van and ensure that they drive in a safe and responsible manner at all times. As an ambassador of the Company you should pride yourself on the delivery of excellent customer service and building professional relationships with the shops we serve. This role will involve heavy lifting and at time may involve long periods of being seated.
